NPQH, NPQSL & NPQML
One of the big challenges facing Academies and Schools in the coming years is that of ensuring a steady flow of talented leaders at every level who understand the need to maintain the highest aspirations for every student so that schools can be judged to be consistently outstanding now and in the future. Many of the examples outlined within our Teaching School website will contribute to this, but the core strand of our Succession Planning delivery will focus upon delivering nationally recognised programmes to the highest standard to the greatest number of aspiring leaders in the South West.
In April 2012, we were delighted to be able to announce that the CLF Teaching School had been awarded one of the three licenses in the South West to deliver the National College level 1 to 3 leadership curriculum. These programmes will be delivered from schools within the federation and our wider teaching school alliance across Bristol, BAINES and South Gloucestershire. In this way we feel we can fully utilise the outstanding heads and practitioners that provide the best possible learning experience for everyone.

The learning in each of the levels of the Leadership are broken down into specific modules. At each level there is a core number of essential modules that need to be completed. These can then be will be supplemented by “elective” modules which add a more personalised approach to your learning.
It is possible to take individual elective modules as stand alone chunks of CPD. There are many benefits to this, not least that it allows you to focus on one particular area for development at a reduced cost, but also because you can collect the electives and bank them so that if you decide to convert to the full qualification you can do so quickly by signing up to complete the essential core of the course.
One module can be completed in about 3 months, and the full programmes can be completed in twelve to eighteen months. For levels one and two, if you completed leadership pathways or the MLDP programme prior to applying, you can complete the programme with one less elective module.
