Up to 150 local primary school children visited Bristol Metropolitan Academy to develop their language skills and their taste buds, over the course of a term.

Among the many primaries that visited, St Matthias & Dr Bell’s pupils made Crepes in French lessons in the Academy’s Cookery Design & Technology area. The lesson was a great opportunity to inspire pupils about how useful languages can be and that language has a real practical purpose.

The sessions are part of a programme where the Academy lends its time and expertise to local primary schools to help them deliver their curriculum and give their pupils a new learning experience.

Nigel Cooley, Bristol Metropolitan’s, co-ordinator for these events, said, “These visits are a great way to welcome our colleagues from the primary sector to Bristol Metropolitan Academy. We have a fantastic building and facilities so to be able to share that with the local community is a great positive for us and the primaries we work with.”
