A group of Year Seven students from the new King’s Oak Academy literally put down roots in the academy grounds.

To celebrate and mark the next chapter of the school’s history the students planted an English Oak in the academy grounds and will tend it over the months and years ahead. There is also an acorn growing competition in Year Seven, the best seedlings will be grown in school and then planted out in the community by the time the students leave at the end of their school careers.

Previously Kingsfield School, Kings Oak Academy is now part of the Cabot Learning Federation and joins Bristol Brunel, Bristol Metropolitan, Hans Price and John Cabot Academies within the federation.

Ian Frost, Principal at Kings Oak Academy said, “The students have really engaged with this project and they see the importance of King’s Oak putting down roots both here and in the local community. The academy has got off to a great start and the change in uniform has proved very positive with staff, students and parents. I look forward to creating a school for the local community of which we can all be proud.”
