Seventeen Yr 10 BTEC Health and Social Care students from John Cabot Academy entertained a group of 30 elderly residents from Residential Care Homes across the South Glos region.

The students planned and prepared an afternoon of activities designed to maintain wellbeing, with activities including, chair exercises for physical health, a game of bingo for mental stimulation, plus singing and music. Light refreshments were provided and served to their guests as part of the event.

This practical activity formed part of the students BTEC unit on Therapeutic and Creative Activities in the Health and Social Care Sectors.

Jazz Davies, Health and Social Care PGCE teacher said, “The Yr 10 students have worked extremely hard to put on this event and it has given them an excellent opportunity to sample what it is like working in the sector in which they wish to make their careers. I’m very proud and hope the event will be well received as it is very important for the Academy and its students to be involved and engaged with the local community.”
