A team of runners from Hans Price Academy called the ‘Hans Price Hunnies’ ran, walked and crawled the 5KM Race for Life on Weston-super-Mare Beach.

Over 40 students from yrs 7, 8 & 9 plus two parents and approximately 15 female members of staff ran in this charity event in aid of Cancer research.

On the day of the run the team wore their specially designed T-Shirts that have been sponsored by Charles Walker of Rapide System Supplies, but to raise further funds the academy staged a ‘Wear Pink Day.’ If staff or students paid £1 they could wear pink for the day and they hoped to raise around £800.

Sarah Hunter, Year 8 Achievement Mentor said, “Sadly cancer is a disease that touches all of us if not directly but indirectly and so it is a charity most of us can associate with. This is a great fun event for our staff and students to get involved with but I feel it is important to raise the awareness of this disease and also the amazing work the charity undertakes to combat it with our students.”
