The CLF Girls Football Team Play First Match
Written by Dean Blake on 22/11/2011 – 2:15 pm -
The Cabot Learning Federation girls football team played their first fixture recently. The team had trained for the first time recently, so were all very keen to play together.
The game started at a quick pace with Kennet School rattling the defence of the Federation team a number of times which finally they converted into an early goal. Nevertheless, the Federation team started to play some very good football passing the ball well from all areas of the pitch.
The next 15 minutes saw opportunities for both teams with Ocean Bracey in goal pulling off some very good saves!! Aimee Shae came on and made an immediate impact to the game by netting the first Federation goal making it 1-1. Both Kalisha and Grace had a number of efforts that just went clear of goal. Kennet upped the pressure and slotted a through ball to their striker which she put in the back of the net, 2-1.
The game was up in the air for the next few minutes with both teams chasing the ball but it was Kennet who broke through scoring another goal making it 3-1. The Federation team was not phased by the score line and continued to work hard and played well as a team with Lucy Thatcher making some good runs up the right wing and Jodie Hall showing some good skill on the left. Their hard work paid off when Jazz Rogers tapped in a nice ball from the wing, 3-2.
Leanne, Emily and Jade made a number of strong tackles at the back and provided the midfield with the ball. The pressure applied by the Federation team resulted in a well deserved third goal just before the whistle giving us a good 3-3 result.
Coach, Dana Hinton, John Cabot Academy said, “All the girls showed a good fighting and determined attitude, one they should all be proud of and they proved to their supporters why they had been selected for the team.” Coach, Emma Robertson, Bristol Brunel Academy said, “The team would like to thank all the support they got from everyone watching.”
