Fundraising for Children In Need at Bristol Metropolitan raised over £1000 with various activities taking place throughout the Academy, but centre stage went to Dave Spence, Languages teacher and SLT member.

Dave agreed to have his head shaved, by teacher Tim Holmes, for this thoroughly worthwhile cause. Dave said, “”I’m thrilled and just glad that we were able to raise so much money. I thought it would be fun to do, and make a bit of a splash. We wanted to do our bit and together with our fantastic students here at BMA, we’ve had our best ever fundraising day. I’m not sure what my wife’s going to say when I get home, though”.

Other activities included a Children In need themed Cake Sale.  Jordan Bryant and Aleisha Scholfield Year 10 students sold cakes during break and lunch time. Throw a wet sponge at a teacher was extremely popular with students. Two teachers volunteered to stand outside the student entrance and have wet sponges thrown at them during lunch time, this event was organised by Molly Nash and Courtney Riley from Year 10.

Two students from Year 9 Rosie Ley-Dietrich and Mirhaed Quirke carried out a sponsored silence from 8.45 -2.45pm the whole school day!! Staff and students also paid £1 each to wear non uniform for the day.

And not forgetting ‘An Audience with Concert’ organised by Drama teacher Meesh Lambert earlier in the week which was very successful and raised a large sum of money. The money raised, from this concert, was equally divided between Children In Need and FSID (Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths.) In total £133 went to FSID which is a charity Meesh has raised funds for in the Past and a very worthy cause.
