Teachers from Bristol Brunel Academy have really entered into the spirit of Movember this month. Teachers from the Academy have been growing weird and wonderful moustaches for the charity fundraising event that is Movember.

The name for Movember comes from mo from moustache and November so together you have Movember. It is hoped that this event will raise over £500 for men’s prostate cancer charities.

Around ten teachers have grown moustaches for Movember which challenges men to change their appearance and the face of men’s health by growing a moustache. The rules are simple, start November 1st clean shaven and then grow a moustache for the entire month.  The moustache becomes the ribbon for men’s health, the means by which awareness and funds are raised for cancers that affect men.  Much like the commitment to run or walk for charity, the men of Movember commit to growing a moustache for 30 days.

James Conlon, Resources Assistant, who instigated this event said, “The staff have really dived into the spirit of this, they have taken some ribbing from other staff and students about their moustaches, but what this event has allowed us to do is to start conversations with students around the topic of men’s health and raise the awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle.”
