Annie Hudson Works With Student Parliament
Written by Dean Blake on 20/11/2009 – 8:48 am -Annie Hudson, Strategic Director – Children, Young People and Skills for Bristol, will be working with a group of around 25 pupils from the Cabot Learning Federation. The Cabot Learning Federation (CLF) consists of three Academies in East Bristol: John Cabot Academy, Bristol Brunel Academy and Bristol Metropolitan Academy.
The group of pupils make up the Federation Student Parliament and consists of pupils from year seven to sixth form. The aim of the Parliament is for pupils to gain acess to the other academies and work with staff on topics such as curriculum and cross academy projects.
Annie will be launching a project with the pupils called “Keeping Safe” which will be asking them to look at the ways in which Communities, Families, Schools, other services and young people themselves can help them to stay safe. Aspects including e-safety, physical well being and safety will be explored.
They will produce some ideas and proposals which will be presented back to Annie and other members of her team including representatives from the Local Children’s Safeguarding Board.
Tony Searle, Assistant Principal, Hub Leader – Student Development Hub, for the CLF said “It is imperative that the Federation Parliament work together on projects that can make a real difference to their education, so I would like to take this opportunity to thank Annie for taking the time to work with our pupils on what we feel is a very important area and key aspect to any Childs education.”
Annie Hudson, Strategic Director – Children, Young People and Skills for Bristol said “I am looking forward to working with the Cabot Learning Federation Student Parliament as this project will generate many useful ideas that will help children and young people stay safe. Importantly too, it will strengthen the voice of young people in the city’s children’s services. The Federation is to be congratulated on taking this initiative to encourage young people’s engagement with participation in issues affecting them and their communities. ”
